I am connnecting with ftp on my linux system to my shares folder and I keep getting a Permission denied Error. I even tried to loosen permissions on my shares folder but still permission error.

Here's a log:

Based on the FTP log, I don't think it is caused by permission problem. The problem happened when your FTP client issued the command PORT, which is used for Active Mode FTP. The Active Mode FTP requires the FTP server to connect back to your FTP client at a specified port number. Your local firewall/router or security software usually will block it.

You can use Passive Mode FTP by typing the command "passive", or use a GUI based FTP client (such as FileZilla), which defaults to the Passive Mode.
