VSS live camera streaming uses WebRTC, which is P2P-based live streaming. In this case, the viewer connects to the VSS software to stream the video. If the PC is down, or VSS software is stopped, then it will not work.
You don't have to use VSS if your IP camera can upload footage to CameraFTP directly. Most non-proprietary IP cameras can upload footage to CameraFTP via FTP or SMTP. Please visit: https://www.cameraftp.com/CameraFTP/Support/SupportedCameras.aspx for a list of IP camera brands/models that we have tested. We have created a lot of Setup Guide documents. Please read at least one of them.
If your IP camera is uploading footage to CameraFTP cloud, then you can use CameraFTP Viewer app for iOS, Android and Windows, or log in to CameraFTP.com website to view or play back your cameras from anywhere. Even if your camera is down, you can still view the recorded footage.
Your cameras are secure and private by default. Other users cannot see your cameras. But you can share your cameras with other users, or publish them so that anybody can view your cameras. For information about how to publish your cameras and embed it in your own website, please visit: https://www.cameraftp.com/camera/knowledgebase/howtoPublishCamera.aspx
