I have set a folder on my local to  sync with a folder on the server. when a file in the local folder changes ,Filemanager asks me which one to overwrite. Is there a way to set the local file so it cannot be overwritten. Also the same for another sub group member to sync the server folder with his local folder and not overwrite the server folder. I keep getting asked by filemanager which to overwrite.

We are working on a new version (4.0) that supports one-way sync. It is expected that the new version will be ready in a few weeks.

For now, you probably can achieve this by setting proper folder permission. You can set a folder to be read-only. (On server, you can share a folder with "View Original" only access; )

When you sync a read-only folder, the files cannot be overwritten.
