No reply on this from my two emails to suppert@drivehq.com, so I am trying here.

My web site's MP3 file http://chrisjj.drivehq.com/untitled1.mp3 fails to play in Google Chrome. No failure if I change to Firefox. No failure if I change address to  ftp://chrisjj:wunderbar@ftp.drivehq.com/wwwhome/untitled1.mp3 .

It seems DriveHQ seemsis serving the wrong MIME type:

  Content-Type: audio/mp3

(Checked with http://web-sniffer.net/ http://chrisjj.drivehq.com/untitled1.mp3 )

instead of

  Content-Type: audio/mpeg

(Checked with http://web-sniffer.net/ http://chrisjj.drivehq.com/untitled1.mp3 )

as accords with the standard at http://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/audio .

Would DriveHQ HQ fix this, please? Thanks.

Sorry for the delay. It is a new problem. It used to work well for many years.

We had to work with our senior engineers to trouble shoot the problem. It turns out to be a compatibility issue with Chrome. Similar issues have been reported in other websites, e.g.:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10840260/chrome-wont-play-mp3-files

Good News: We have fixed the problem over the weekend. It should be working fine now.

The problem is caused by Chrome's strange implementation in playing an .MP3 file: It sends a regular GET request to download the MP3 file. When the server starts sending the data, Chrome will immediately cancel the download. It then sends another GET request with range header to download the same file again.

Anyway, we have fixed the bug now. Please let us know if you still experience any problems.

Thanks for that, but I find  the problem is unchanged. latest Chrome (V24), from DriveHQ's server I see this:

And get no sound. If I click >, I see this:

img20.imageshack.us/img20/6271/60459759.png

and again get no sound.

From different server, I see

and do hear the sound.

Please test it again. It seems we have not migrated to all servers. If you still experience the same problem, please Clear All cached files. You can do so by accessing the Tools menu, select "Clear browsing data...", then click on the button "Clear browsing data".
